Core Features
Static QR Codes
What are Static QR Codes?
Static QR codes are "Direct" QR codes where the target URL is encoded directly into the pattern of the QR code itself. Unlike Dynamic QR codes, they do not redirect through our tracking servers.
Key Characteristics
- Permanent: The destination URL cannot be changed once created.
- Direct: Scanners go directly to your destination, not our link shortener.
- No Analytics: Since we don't intermediate the traffic, we cannot track scans, device data, or location.
- Offline Compatible: Ideal for text, Wi-Fi credentials, or vCards that need to work without internet (if data is embedded).
Creating a Static QR Code
- Navigate to Create: Go to My QR Codes and click Create New.
- Enter Details: Provide a title and the destination URL.
- Select Direct Mode: Check the box labeled Direct QR Code in the "Content" tab.
- Note the Warning: You will see a notice that this type cannot be edited later.
- Save: Complete your design and save.
Editing Limitations
While you cannot change the Target URL of a Static QR code, you can still edit the design.
Immutable Destination
because the URL is baked into the QR pattern, changing the URL would require changing the pattern, effectively making it a different QR code. Therefore, the Target URL input is disabled for existing Static QR codes.
You can safely update colors, dot styles, and logos without affecting the scannability of the original code, provided the contrast remains high enough.
